The concept that I chose
is Analyzing Images. I think that the ability to analyze or at least realize
what the photographer is trying to show is very import. For example, one must
know that all pictures have a bias because the photographer is specifically
choosing that time and that place to capture. The photo on page 171 of the book
“THINK” shows two students arguing about whether abortion should be legal or
illegal. The photographer chose to capture the fight between the two sides
instead of the more peaceful side of the protest. In the background there is no
fighting or arguing the way that there is in the photo. Instead, people are
turning their heads wondering what is going on. The facial expressions of the
students look angry and even hostile. The photographer has captured an image
and automatically created a situation where at first glance, one would think
that a large fight is starting.
